About

Hello there, my name is Scott and I’m a graphic and web designer based in Great Blakenham, near Ipswich, Suffolk – it’s nice to meet you! I’m ready to help you with your next design project, whatever it may be.

“But what experience do you have?” I hear you ask.

I graduated with a BA(Hons) degree in Graphic Design in 2011, and as of writing I have over a decade of industry experience as a graphic designer working in-house for a diverse veterinary business, a low-code software company, a recreational vehicle manufacturer and a global insurance company. In these roles I have worked on a wide range of disciplines, including (but not limited to!) logo and branding design, print magazine design, website design and management, and video production. You can find a more detailed description of these roles on my LinkedIn profile – come connect with me!

I have also helped out friends and family with their design requirements, creating everything from logos to vehicle wraps, brochures to wedding stationary – I’m more than happy to work on anything that gets asked for, nothing is off limits!

I’m sure you’re wondering if I have the work to back up my experience. Rather than telling you about it, let me show you around my graphic design portfolio. Below are a few examples from my wider portfolio to give you an idea of what I’m about.

PetFocus Magazine

In my first Graphic Designer role, I lead the design of a magazine targeted at pet owners. Perhaps I’m misty eyed about the publication as it was a large part of my first ‘real’ design job, but I have to say I was always extremely proud of the finished product. There’s something about opening up a box of freshly printed magazines that has been meticulously created over the preceding couple of months!

LEAP Powered By FLOvate Video Animations

Working at FLOvate (now MICology), an opportunity was seen to advertise their LEAP Low-code Platform via animations. We’d created demo videos for some time to help sell to interested clients, but those sort of videos aren’t necessarily as enticing to potential new customers. So, after a course in After Effects I began creating scripted animations covering topics such as low-codeclaims managementprocess design, and FLOvate as a company. Completing the final render and uploading to YouTube always has a strong sense of achievement, and the videos have garnered praise from staff and clients alike.

International Skills Mark Logo And Website

Amber Admin contacted me to provide visual design and web support on their project with International Skills Mark, a multi-national education development organisation. They required a logo and simple website to give them an online presence. The process involved presenting the client with a varied choice of logo designs and a single page website with translation functionality. The site is now live, and the client is happy with the result – can’t ask for more than that!

Coffee Clinic Vehicle Livery

Early on in my design career, one of my friends approached me to help with the design of his fledgling catering business. The requirements were the standards you’d expect – a logo, business cards, a website – but the most exciting prospect was the van’s livery. The project began with designing the logo and getting the brand style right, followed by the bright, clean layout for the van. I think the word ‘chuffed’ was used to describe how he felt about the finished wrapped vehicle. I’d have to agree.

So now you have a good insight into my style of design. I like to create simple designs that make bold use of colour and pay respect to white space – clutter is not in my design vocabulary!
